FSC certification is one of global schemes of voluntary forest certification. Globally FSC competes only with PEFC certification. The purpose of FSC is promotion of environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial, and economically viable Forest Management  and management of Global forest resources.

In the furtherance of this goal, FSC use Forest certification and marking of certified products as the main tools. FSC trademark is visualization of this scheme.

FSC trademark on the product means, that:

• used for production raw materials are legal;
• chain of custody from final consumer to logger can be traced;
• within timber harvesting it was used the standards of sustainable forest management; employee, local residence and indigenous people rights were respected.

FSC develops widely accepted, credible standards of forest management.
